Chapter History

Chartered in 1928. The oldest active FFA chapter in Iowa.

The chapter was chartered in 1928, the same year the national organization was founded. The Iowa FFA Association’s history records that after the first Iowa chapter was organized at Kelly in July 1929, “chapters were organized at Muscatine, Maquoketa, and Charles City.”

  • 1930–31Darwin Reichling of Maquoketa serves as Iowa FFA State President.
  • 1963–64Norman C. Kennedy serves as Iowa FFA First Vice President.
  • 1968–69William W. Stewart serves on the Iowa FFA Board of Directors.
  • 1992–93Dave Bowman serves on the Iowa FFA Board of Directors.
  • 2014–15Cassie Miller (now Mrs. George, the advisor) serves as a chapter officer.
  • 2018The chapter moves to affiliation dues; membership grows from 60 to 203.
  • 2022First place in Iowa at the Chapter Exhibit, out of 133 chapters.
  • 2026Cole Barton earns a National Silver rating; the floriculture team places 9th at state.
