Chapter Activities

What Maquoketa FFA does across the year, here at home.

Serving our community

Ag Safety Day

Held at the Jackson County Fairgrounds. More than 50 members lead stations that teach area third graders to stay safe around animals, machinery and fire. Partners include NRCS, Jackson County Conservation, the Maquoketa Fire Department and speaker Chris Cornelius.

Farmer’s Meals

Members pack meals and take them to farmers during harvest, so the work does not have to stop.

FFA Week

A week of activities each February, including a fish fry at the Maquoketa Eagles Club (4–7 p.m., dine-in and drive-thru) and member interviews on KMAQ radio.

Freshman Orientation

Members staff an FFA table to welcome incoming freshmen and families.

Livestock judging practice

Practice sessions run during the weeks before contests.

Awards banquet

Mrs. George organizes an annual ceremony to recognize members, install the next year’s officers and thank supporters.

Member of the Month

One member from each grade is featured every month. Meet them.
