Accessibility statement
Trinity Parish of Jackson County, Iowa. Last updated October 7, 2026.
Our commitment
Trinity Parish wants everyone to be able to read this website and find what they need to worship with us. We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA, the standard used for the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
What we have done
- Every page has a page title, a language, headings in order, and landmarks (header, main, footer).
- A Skip to main content link is the first thing a keyboard user reaches.
- Everything can be used with a keyboard alone, with a clearly visible focus outline. The sections of the home page are tabs: use Tab to reach them, then the arrow keys, Home and End to move between them. Without JavaScript, every section is shown on one page.
- Text and controls meet the WCAG 2.1 AA contrast ratios, and a control is never identified by colour alone.
- Pages reflow to a 320 pixel wide screen without sideways scrolling, and keep working when text is enlarged or spaced out.
- Photos have text descriptions. Decorative graphics are hidden from screen readers.
- Nothing moves, plays by itself or times out.
- Links say where they go, and links that open a new tab say so.
The map is not loaded until you ask for it, and the addresses and an “Open in Google Maps” link are always shown, so you never need the map to find us. Fonts and images are part of the website itself.
How we checked
We tested every page on October 7, 2026 at desktop and phone widths with the axe-core accessibility checker (rules for WCAG 2.0, 2.1 and 2.2 levels A and AA) and with our own keyboard and reflow checks. It found no problems.
We have not yet had an independent audit, and we have not yet tested with people who use screen readers or other assistive technology. Automated checks cannot find every problem, so we may have missed some. Tell us if you find one.
Known limitations
- The map, once you choose to show it, is provided by Google and is not under our control. Use the printed address or the “Open in Google Maps” link if it is hard to use.
- Some parts of this website are still being filled in and show text in [square brackets] where the final wording will go. We will finish and check them before they are relied on.
- Recordings of Salem’s services are on Facebook and YouTube. Those services are run by others, and we cannot promise their captions or controls are accessible.
Tell us about a problem
If something on this website is hard or impossible for you to use, tell us what you were trying to do and what got in the way, and we will fix it or give you the information another way (for example by email, by phone or on paper). Contact the parish: [email protected] or call Pastor Will Layton at 563-249-6923. We aim to reply within two business days.
